Six Stone Jars Farm

Our Mission

To leave whatever land we steward better than we found it, to produce clean and nutritious whole foods through regenerative farm practices, and to advocate for ecologically friendly living.

WHO WE ARE

We welcome you as warmly as one of our southern summer days. We hope our products, practices, or story bring a smile to your face and good feelings to your soul. A sincere thanks for visiting our website and a reminder to contact us with any questions you might still have and to subscribe to our marketing and newsletter list. This is how we inform our folks when certain items are about to be harvested, any sales we might have going on, or classes being offered

All the best, The Shields Family

The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations. -Pope John Paul II

WHAT WE DO

While "sustainable" and "regenerative" have become marketing buzzwords in agricultural circles they have always been and will continue to be the primary principles that govern our farm operation. We use evidence-based practices like intensive rotational grazing for healthy animal and pasture management.

We have never broadcasted chemicals (herbicides or pesticides) nor do we use synthetic fertilizers. We refuse to clear-cut land or compromise wildlife habits to expand livestock production. We participate in various flora and fauna initiatives with the National Resource Conservation Service and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. We are also members of various eco and animal-friendly organizations like the Food Animals Care Trust.

We maintain humanely raised certifications for all our livestock and 100% grass-fed and finished products for our herbivores. We willingly submit to annual audits and rigid requirements from A Greener World for these certifications.

"In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt."
– Margaret Atwood
